Kotumsar Cave is a naturally shaped cavern that derives its name from the place where the caves are located, Kutumsar village. In the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, an hour’s drive away from Chitrakote Falls, Kotumsar is a limestone cave along the Kanger limestone belt. The caves are 200 meters long along its length, with many downward and sideway alleys. A vertical depression on the surface of the hills forming the caves forms the entrance of the caves. A concrete walkway created for visitors visiting the caves links the entrance with the exit. During monsoons, the caves will flood and kept closed to the public during this period, but the rest of the year remains open.
Tirathgarh Waterfalls
Tirathgarh Waterfalls are situated approximately 60 kilometers from the Chitrakote falls in the south-west of Jagdalpur. The water descends in a criss-cross pattern from a height of 91 meters. It adjoins the National Park of the Kanger Valley and is very similar to the Caves of Kutumsar.

A small waterfall on the road leading up to Chitrakoot in the Potanagar region is approximately 25 kilometers from the Chitrakote Waterfall. Danteshwari Temple
In Dantewada, about 30 kilometers from Chitrakote falls, a fourteenth-century temple devoted to the goddess Danteshwari, the Kuldevi of the Bastar region. We assume that the temple is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas (Shaki sanctuaries). Local tradition shows that during the construction of the Shakti shrines, the temple erected where Sati’s tooth fell. With a big procession for the goddess crossing the entire town, the locals celebrate Dussehra.
Bastar Palace
The rulers of Bastar found Bastar Palace, the former headquarters of the Bastar Empire,. At present, the government envisages routine repairs and maintenance of the palace. The palace is one of the major tourist attractions in the Bastar region, surrounded by gardens on all sides and renowned for its artifacts and historical relics adorning the walls of the palace. The Bastar Palace is about 40 kilometers from the falls of Chitrakote and estimated to be about an hour away.

How to reach Chitrakoot Waterfall?
Raipur airport is the nearest airport about 285 kilometers from the waterfalls and Jagdalpur Railway Station is the nearest station. You can get a shared taxi or a private taxi from the station to the falls. The cheapest way to get to the falls is the state-owned buses that owned from Jagdalpur to Chitrakote falls, with about 4-5 buses operating daily and taking up to 2 hours to cover a distance of 38 kilometers.
Option 1 by Air:
Bastar has its own airport, operated under the UDAN Scheme by the state government. Flights from Jagdalpur to Raipur and from Jagdalpur to Visakhapatnam operated by AIRODISHA. The nearest accessible airport is in Raipur, approximately 300 km from Bastar. From here, several aircraft operators operate periodic flights linking it to all the major cities. From Raipur Airport to Jagdalpur, prepaid taxis are easily available.
Option 2 by Train:
Jagdalpur, the district headquarters of the Bastar district, well connected by railway to Vishakapatnam and Raipur. The train station in Jagdalpur served by the East Coast Railway. The primary source of iron ore transport from NMDC Bacheli to Visakhapatnam is this railway line. Operating from Jagdalpur are Visakhapatnam -Kirandul Passenger (58501), Durg-Jagdalpur Express (18211), Howrah-Koraput Express (18005), Hirakhand Express (18448), and Visakhapatnam-Jagdalpur (Night Express).

Daily bus services are available to and from the city of Jagdalpur (Bastar), whether express or sleeper-based. They operate daily, through a well-connected national highway network such as NH 30.
