Located about 4 km from Cherrapunjee, Nohsngithiang Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in India and a major tourist spot in Cherrapunji‎. Nohsngithiang Falls Cherrapunji (Seven Sisters waterfalls), Meghalaya is one of the best falls in India. It is also known as Mawsmai Falls. Because it locates in the Mawsmai Village of the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. The Nohsngithiang Falls, divided into seven separate parts, fall from a height of about 1033 feet, giving it the epithet of Seven Sister Waterfalls.

The Nohsngithiang Falls or the Seven Sister Falls, namely Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya, are representative of the seven sister states of the North East of India. It is unlikely to reach the mesmerizing waterfall, but it provides a stunning perspective to view the surrounding beauty of Mawsmai.

Best Time to Visit Nohsngithiang Falls Cherrapunji

The lifetime of the waterfall is very slow as it relies primarily on rainfall to feed it with water. Monsoons are the best time to visit Nohsngithiang Falls. How to Reach Nohsngithiang Falls Cherrapunji?

Option 1 Road

53 km from Shillong, Cherrapunjee is well connected by road. Many state and private buses operate from Bada Bazaar to Cherrapunjee, Shillong. A quick taxi ride will take you to Mawsmai Village, just 1 km from where the waterfall is.

Option 2 Air

Umroi is the nearest airport for domestic flights from the north-eastern states, 35 km from Shillong. While Guwahati is the nearest airport for flights from other major cities. 133 km from Cherrapunjee, and 100 km from Shillong.

Option 3 Train

The nearest railway station is at Guwahati. You can easily rent a taxi or catch a bus to Shillong and go from Shillong to Cherrapunjee by bus or taxi.
